Truly a prestigious vintage for La Vigna. Vivid, intense aromas of new saddle leather, huge extractions of black currant, sweet tannin, and a multilayered finish that seems to never end. The wine is accessible now, although another 5 years in the cellar is needed to reach its true potential. Aged 15 months in American/French Oak barrels. Bottled unfiltered with minimal intervention, or manipulation to capture the somewhereness of La Vigna.
Ingredients: Cabernet Franc/Cabernet Sauvignon grapes (100% from our 2008 vintage) tartaric acid, and sulfur dioxide
In the winemaking process, the following were utilized:
Indigenous yeast (start of fermentation), cultured yeast (second half of fermentation), yeast nutrient, pectic enzymes, lactic acid bacteria, egg whites, and American/French oak barrels
